The police in Kaduna have announced the arrest of two notorious individuals who are specialists in gunrunning and passing information to kidnappers.
The police also confirmed that. A kidnap attempt was foiled by the police in the state, rescuing two victims in two separate operations in the state. The Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, confirmed the success in a statement on Monday.
He named the arrested suspects as Abdulaziz Habibu and Nuhu Thomas. The police PRO explained that the operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in operation around Madaci Village, Zaria, arrested the suspects on August 14th with a fabricated AK-47 rifle.
The PPRO explained that the suspects have confessed to being the suppliers of weapons to the bandits who are operating around the Zaria axis of the state.
In a raid in the state, the PPRO explained that the police arrested one Abubakar Yahuza, who has been an informant to kidnappers at Gidan Abeh Village, Kagarko LGA of the state.
Providing more details, the police explained that the distress call was placed to the police on the 18th of August about gunfire in the community; the arrival of the police foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued two farmers who the bandits attacked and tried to take away.
He explained that the police and the criminals exchanged gunfire for a moment, but the police, who overpowered the bandit, led them to run into hiding.
The PPRO noted that the commissioner of police in the state, Audu Dabigi, commended the police officers for their prompt response to the incident. He further urged residents to report every act of illegality to the police, which will guarantee more safety in the state.
“The Commissioner of Police, AUDU ALI DABIG psc, commended the officers for their exemplary work in apprehending the suspects and urged the public to continue supporting the police, by providing credible information that will help them in carrying out their duties effectively and in the ongoing fight against crime,” Hassan added.
