The Police in Nasarawa state have announced the arrest of two “One Chance” armed robbers who have been terrorising the peace and stability of the residents of the Karu Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, in a statement on Wednesday, explained that the suspects suspected have been robbing and taking several items from the public, who have no idea of their criminal act. He noted the suspects were apprehended after the officers’ due diligence in the state.
The PPRO explained that on 13th August 2023 at about 8 pm, the command received a call about some armed robbers who were using a Toyota Corolla 1994 model with Reg. No. Benue MKD 77 TF, the PPRO, disclosed that the suspects had picked up some passengers who, unknown to them, had boarded a vehicle of criminals from Nyanya en route to Area 1, Abuja, but robbed the passenger of her handbag, iPhone, and other valuables and threw their victim out of the moving vehicle.
He explained that when the command received the information, the police officer deployed to the Karu area of the state with other members of the public who collaborated with the public, chased the criminals, and got hold of their vehicle.
The due who was named John Iorfa and James Agbo, 29 and 37 years respectively, all from Makurdi Benue State, were arrested, and the items taken from the victims were recovered immediately.
The PPRO also disclosed that the statements made by the suspects have been revealed, and investigations have started to aid the arrest of other individuals in the criminal act.
