Bobby Lee is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and podcaster widely known for his ‘A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas’ (2011), Paul (2011), and Mad TV (1995). Lee is also a writer and co-host of the podcasts ‘Bad Friends with Andrew Santino’ and ‘TigerBelly’ with his ex-partner Khalyla Kuhn. In 2001, he was recognized as MADtv’s first Asian-American cast member.

Robert Young Lee Jr., professionally known as Bobby Lee, was born in San Diego, California, USA, On September 17, 1971, to Korean immigrant parents Jeanie and Robert Lee. His younger brother, Steve Lee, is also a comedian and Musician. Steve Lee hosts The Steebee Weebee podcast and co-hosts the Scissor Bros podcast with comedian Jeremiah Watkins.
Bobby Lee attended Painted Rock Elementary School, later moved to Twin Peaks Middle School, and attended Poway High School. After finishing high school, he enrolled at Palomar College but eventually dropped out.
At the age of 12, Lee started drugging, taking methamphetamine and marijuana as well as heroin at 15 and went through three drug-rehabilitation attempts before becoming sober when he was 17.
After 12 years of Sobriety, Lee fell back to Vicodin when he received negative feedback from a producer that he had been fired. MADtv producer Lauren Dombrowski intervened for him subsequently after he was sacked from the show a second time and brought him back to a state of sobriety. Before Lee’s Career began as a comedian, he worked in cafes and restaurants. Unfortunately 1994, the coffee shop where he worked closed without prior notice. After the abrupt closure of the coffee shop, Lee said, “I just went next door to get a job at The Comedy Store in San Diego.” A few months after working odd jobs at the club, Lee tried stand-up during one of their amateur nights. Within a short period of a year, he started doing regular comedy sets, and he received offers to open for both Pauly Shore and Carlos Mencia, where he began regularly working at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles, a comedy club owned by Pauly Shore’s mother, Mitzi.
Lee’s comedy career initially did not receive his family’s support because the parents expected him to continue the family’s business. On February 1, 2011, Lee revealed in an interview conducted by his fellow actor and comedian Joe Rogan that his parents barely spoke to him during the first few years he did stand-up.
