Andre Marin, a renowned sports journalist in Mexico, has reportedly died at the age of 52.
A Mexican-American Spanish-language sports channel owned by Univision, TUDN, where the great journalist worked, confirmed this in a publication.
According to TUDN, Marin, who died on Monday morning, embodied commendable traits and personality that made him loveable and set him apart while he was alive.
The famous media organisation wrote:
“On behalf of TelevisaUnivision, we express our deepest condolences for the death of our dear colleague and close friend André Marín, a distinguished sports journalist,” read a statement from the network.
“His charisma, character and analytical skills quickly made him one of the most beloved and recognized faces in sports journalism in Mexico and around the world,” added a story from TUDN.
Marin was reported to have suffered a bacterial infection, which resulted in him being diagnosed with pneumonia and also led to him being hospitalised several times within the last few years.
Marin had also undergone double lung transplants earlier this month before his passing.
He had previously worked for big media organisations such as TV Azteca Deportes and Fox Sports Mexic before joining TUDN.
At Fox Sports he was the host for the programme, “La Última Palabra.” He was also a sports columnist for Mexican newspaper Excélsior.
According to reports, the renowned Mexican-American soccer journalist started practicing journalism at the age of 14, working as a production assistant on now-defunct TV network Imevsión.
