Rodri of Manchester City has been named the men’s best player of the year, clinching the 2024 Ballon d’Or trophy.
The Paris ceremony featured several incredible names from different globes, including the likes of ishowspeed and many other stars.
Beating the likes of Bellingham, Carvajal and Vinicius, Rodri was named the men’s world best player of the year.
This is the first time a Spanish footballer has clinched the trophy in over 20 years. Moreover, this is the first time a Spanish midfielder clinched the trophy.
Rodri played a vital role in helping Manchester City to triumph in several complicated competitions, including EPL in 2024. He would stretch his dominance for Spain during the 2024 Euro campaign, where he emerged as the tournament’s best player after clinching the trophy.
Even though Vinicius Jr was the favourite to clinch the title, he surpassed dimension to beat him.
He emerged first on the list, followed by Vinicius Jr., who claimed the second spot, and Bellingham, who claimed the fourth spot.
Many football players are parading that Rodri’s triumph over Vinicius Jr is unfair because they believe Vinicius Jr had a better year than Rodri.
Vinicius Jr, furious about the decision, didn’t congratulate Rodri but warned on X that he would prove them wrong.
Also, no Real Madrid player attended the Ballon d’Or ceremony after learning that Vinicius Jr will not be winning it.
