Real Madrid has trailed against Lille after a late first half penalty gave the French club the only vital goal to triumph over the defending champions in a 1-0 victory.

The beautiful game started off with dominance as both sides went head-to-head, deploying a masterclass of performance ranging from several shots on target to a possessive approach.

Real Madrid were threatening but the French defence was incredibly up for their challenges.

Amid pressure Camavinga conceded a late penalty before half time. With no mistake, Jonathan David lashed it to the back of the net, followed by a classic celebration.

The final whistle foresees Real Madrid losing their 14-game unbeaten run to Lille. Also, meeting the 15th time Champions League winners for the first time, Lille astonished the world by clinching victory.

Real Madrid seats astonishingly at the 17th place of the new UEFA Champions League table.

Speaking about the match, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti detailed that Lille was the better side, admitting that they deserved the win. He added that Real Madrid players were bad under all aspect as they didn’t posses the ball and create chances.

His words:

“Lille were better and deserved to win. We were bad and slow tonight”.

“We didn’t create, the possession was slow, no ideas. We were bad under every aspect”.
