Nigerians across the country will have the opportunity to watch all actions and performances from Paris in the 2024 Olympics as Multichoice has announced that it will broadcast the tournament on its cable TV network, GoTV and DSTV receivers.
The company revealed that the opening ceremony will be broadcast live on (DStv ch 203 and GOtv ch 61), at 6:30 pm on Friday.
The Executive Head of Marketing MultiChoice West Africa, Tope Oshunkeye, spoke about the development and noted that DStv and GOtv customers can follow the track and events live across all SuperSport channels.
“As part of our commitment to delivering the best sporting action to Nigerians, we will broadcast across SuperSport channels with additional pop-up channels on DStv and GOtv. The Olympics is the largest gathering of athletes competing for honours. We will make the games available to customers on DStv Yanga and GOtv Jolli. offering them the opportunity to watch history unfold and follow our Nigerian athletes at the Games. In the spirit of the Olympics, each of the SuperSport channels will also be renamed as ‘Olympic Channel’ for the duration of the games,” he explained.
82 athletes have been transported to Paris to represent Nigeria at games scheduled to be held from July 26- to August 11. Football, basketball, long jump, and weightlifting are part of the 11 games Nigeria will be participating in for the 2024 edition of the tournament.
The Nigerian basketball team will on Wednesday play Japan in their last warmup game for the tournament after losing to Germany and Serbia in the earlier fixtures of their preparatory games.
The Nigerian Football Federation also on Tuesday disclosed that the allowances of participants have been paid in order to create a good spirit in the camp and serve as a motivation during the tournament.
It was also confirmed that Tobi Amusan of the athletics team will be the Nigerian flag bearer, while Anuoluwapo Opeyori of the badminton team will take on the role of the General Team Captain.
