Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed the 2022 summer signing that Tyrell Malacia could return to action within the next two months after spending an extended time injured.
Unfortunately, Malacia spent the entire 2023/24 season out due to an injury to his knee that required two surgeries. He has failed to join the team in the pre-season currently ongoing in the United States of America.
Speaking to the press on Friday, the club coach, Ten Hang in the United States, explained that the player has been in recovery mode for a long time; he noted that the player was not picked because only players with the potential to be able to train were taken for the US trip.
He explained that the progress with the recovery has been impressive, noting that the player could return from the injury in a short period; he added that the player will likely be available in the next two months.
Malacia joined Manchester United from the Dutch side of Feyenoord in July 2022 for a fee of £13m.
Since signing his signature for the team, the player has played 39 games for the Manchester side. During his debut season at Old Trafford, he played 39 games across all competitions, scoring zero goals.
The player has had a troubled second season at Old Trafford after undergoing the first surgery on his troubled knee in the summer of 2023. Malacia was hoping to return to the field at the beginning of the 2023 campaign but sat out of the squared, which compounded his frustration with the team. However, the latest revelation brings a glimpse of hope for the defender’s return.
The injury crisis at his position extended to his fellow teammate Luke Shaw, who spent a considerable amount of the season treating an injury, a situation that added to having to contend with injuries to fellow left-back Luke Shaw.
