Nigerian on air personality has slammed Tyla for allegedly discrediting Afrobeat.

Tyla had astonishingly triumphed in a category bound with Afrobeat stars Davido, Burna Boy and Ayra Starr to clinch the 2024 VMAs plaque which sparked reactions among fans.

Her approach to her acceptance speech even spiced people’s grief after she denounced Afrobeat to credit Amapiano and South Africa.

Addressing her utterances, Do2dtun slammed her for exaggerating reality, revealing that she would have withrawn from the nomination if Afrobeat doesn’t credit her genre, while also announcing that Tyla genre is not Amapiano.

In a further response to her comment, Do2dtun tackled the ‘Water’ crooner for clinching an award which didn’t represent her genre considering the fact that she claimed she represents Amapiano and not Afrobeats.

He wrote:

“Aunty @tyla aka am not Afrobeats, I am Amapiano. We have heard you but your song “Water” isn’t amapiano either. If you thought you were categorized in a wrong category, you should have given the award back or denounced the nomination. You clearly took an award that didn’t represent you or your sound from that statement you made.”

“Again, you see why you “ESAUS” need to rethink. You all sold our birthright for peanuts. Afrobeat is Afrobeat not Afrobeats hence the confusion…” he added

He also ridiculed Nigerian singers for adding to the current Afrobeat turmoil as they have found comfort in changing their true genre.
