Unfolding a brand-new masterpiece body of work, Chike glorifies cultures in his new music album, “Son of Chike” which he released on July 19, 2024.
The new collection serves as the singer’s third studio album and features a handful of fellow amazing Nigerian artists including Mavin signee, Ladipoe, YBNL boss, Olamide, fast-rising Nigerian singers Qing Madi and Amaeya.
Described by many as an Ode to Love, perseverance and his roots, the talented Nigerian singer did not only introduce a new perspective to his craft by mesmerizing fans with his unique tune, catchy lyrics and fresh mid-tempo sounds via the album, but also included his earlier released hit single “Egwu” – a posthumous collaboration with former Marlian record label signee Mohbad who was mysteriously killed earlier in 2024.
The sound of “Egwu” as second in the album’s tracklist indicates Chike’s commitment to celebrating the unbridled spirit of music and the legacy he shared with the late Mohbad.
This further spurs an attraction to Chike’s versatility and adept to soulful melodies and his silky RnB which is skilfully complimented by Ladipoe’s soulful rap style in the opening track, “Unto You,” which is a declaration of unwavering love that emphasizes staying true to oneself.
As the 12-track album unfolds and continues to boom speakers for as long as cannot be ascertained just yet, the award-winning singer maintains his signature, exploring his cultural roots whilst celebrating his family name, Osebuka. Chike is origginally called Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka.
Announcing the release of his album, “Chiké,” as his name is sometimes stylishly spelt, wrote on social media: “I am Osebuka, the son of my father, and this album symbolizes and celebrates my heritage and identity as a #SonOfChike and my new musical offspring joining the ranks of those that came before.”
The singer’s previously released projects which include “Boo of the Booless” released in 2020 and his sophomore body of work, ‘The Brother’s Keeper’ released in 2022 had already set the centre stage for him to soar high like an eagle.
The Brothers Records signee first came into the limelight following his participation in Project Fame 2015. It was significantly the beginning of a music career for him at an early age of 22.
The next year, 2016, Chike featured on the popular singing competition, “The Voice Nigeria” and emerged first runner-up. This achievement served as a springboard for the 31-year-old singer who has struggled to maintain his relevance in the industry since then.
Remarkably, the album “Son of Chike” is only another proof to the singer’s musical dexterity which sets him apart and has majorly contributed to the constant evolution of his craft as well as the rapid growth of his global audience which forms a formidable fan base.
From the first track through the last on the list, Chike solidifies his place in the Nigerian music industry and identifies his place even in the global scene as he is yet to maximise his innermost potentials. He holds firm the mastery of his craft as a charm shooting him to the peak of his career while striving to stay relevant and evolve his craft as much as the industry does.
