CEO of Mavin record label Don Jazzy has outlined the most challenging decisions he has to make as the general overseer of the famous record label.

All over the globe and since the debut of Mavin Record Label, it has emerged to be one of the most successful Record labels in Africa.

He opined on the sector of Record Label business, referring that footballers already have established factors to maintain their financial fair when they get older but in the case of musicians it’s different.

He added that most times, people assume that older musicians fall off but they are often withrawn from becoming a performing artist.

He finalised that having to put sentiment aside and making the decisions of withdrawing his artists is the toughest decision he do take as a Record Label owner.

His words:

“There are plenty oh. Why? Because you see, footballers and maybe other sectors, they’ve figured out a way of transitioning from after playing in a club, they now go to that Qatar or India or USA, then they now come back and become coach or manager, and then you can now go and start doing broadcasting. They’ve figured out a way so that they don’t look at old footballers like they’ve failed. They don grow, they don play their thing, and they don transition into something else.”

“But I think people look at musicians in the wrong way. So, if you don’t see a musician for one, two years, they just assume that you’ve fallen off. But that’s not necessarily the case. They’re older, they can transition into something else. So, in some cases, we’ve been able to transition properly.”

“Let me just cut it short: the difficult part is when you have to now remove sentiment from business and be like “okay, I think we’ve gotten to a point where we’ve pushed too far. We kinda need you to transition into something else that is not necessarily performing artiste.” Performing artiste is really for the young blood, especially if you’re doing pop, unless you’re doing juju music and the rest. So having to make that decision sometimes is difficult.”

Fans has dived into the conversation, detailing their views according to their feelings.
