Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is set to meet with partners, youths and leaders in Nigeria today (Tuesday) in Abuja.
The purpose of the conference is to advance strategies for tackling health issues, spearheading technological advancements and improving nutrition in the whole Africa.
It was discovered that Gates’ visit is a part of the foundation’s never ending endeavours to support the development of Africa.
The foundation released a statement saying that Gates will be meeting with grantees, innovators, partners, and leaders from both local and national levels during his visit.
“Gates, alongside other foundation leaders, will meet with experts in primary health care, agriculture, and nutrition who are driving progress across the continent, despite economic challenges,” the foundation said in a statement.
“He will also participate in a pan-African virtual dialogue addressing malnutrition through integrated health, agriculture, and financing solutions. For this dialogue, Gates will be joined by musician, educator and humanitarian Jon Batiste,” the foundation added.
Since its founding in 2000, the Gates Foundation has facilitated collaborations between national governments, local communities, and African regional organisations to provide financial and scientific knowledge to support the reform agendas of 49 African countries. Numerous programs pertaining to equality, health, agriculture, and fighting poverty have been made possible by these collaborations.
Through 2026, the foundation has pledged to provide more than $7 billion in support to African nations and organisations that are creating and implementing cutting-edge strategies to combat poverty, hunger, and gender inequality.
