A federal high court in Abuja has announced the postponement on the judgement in a suit which which was filed seeking the removal of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Abdullahi Ganduje till the 23rd of September 2023.
In an earlier announcement, the presiding judge, Inyang Ekwo, fixed the judgement for September 18 on the case when the court sat on the 5th of July 2024. When the court resumed it seating on Wednesday, the court did not list the case for hearing
It was later learnt that the register of the court had earlier told the parties, and an agreement was reached with the excuse that the judgement for the case was not ready on the stipulated date.
In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/599/2024, the North Central APC Forum, led by Saleh Zazzaga, queried the propriety of Ganduje’s appointment as the chairman of the party since he is not from any state in the north-central geopolitical zone.
According to them the national executive committee (NEC) of the APC had gone against the constitution of the when the former Kano governor was appointed. They had told the court to stop the current APC chairman from stopping parading himself as the chairman of the All Progressive Congress in the country.
They further ask the court to give an order which will stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to stop recognising the action or activity taken by the current APC chairman, they had included the conduct of congresses, primaries and nominations, as activities not be recognised since he became the party chairman.
The current APC chairman was appointed the leader of the party on August 3, 2023 after the resignation of the Abdullahi Adamu from Nasarawa State north central Nigeria.
The suit listed the Ganduje, the APC and INEC as the respondents to the suit.
