The Police in Katsina State Nothern, Nigeria, has confirmed that the operatives of the command have foiled a kidnapped attempt by some individuals who were suspected to be bandits in the state.
The command’s Spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed the activity in a press statement released in the state on Monday to newsmen.
The PPRO noted that when the attackers were on ramage in Layin Minister Village, Malumfashi LGA of the state, the police received a call of distress from the community members to the police which prompted a quick response by the officers,
He explained that the bandit had taken five persons from the community away when they attacked the community.
In providing explicit details of the attack, the PPRO noted that at about 10 am, the residents contacted the Malumfashi Divisional Police Headquarters about the bandits who were on a rampage in the community; they had also told the police officer that the criminals took five people in the community in.
Sadiq confirmed that the police, after receiving the call, mobilised and visited the community, where they confirmed the bandits. According to the statement, the bandits confirmed the police arrival when they saw them, while the police responded adequately.
He confirmed that after an exchange that lasted for several hours in the community, the kidnapped persons were rescued by the police operatives, which was possible because of their superior power; the police also confirmed that some of the bandits escaped with several gunshot wounds of different degrees.
The police, in another quick response on Saturday, received a call from Marabar Kankara village, Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State, about a bandit attack. The Malumfashi Divisional Police Headquarters was notified of the attack by the bandits; the criminals were reportedly seen on different motorcycles numbering about twelve, and they were reported to have carried different kinds of weapons and were firing gunshots indiscriminately in the community with heavy rain, the community.
The police of the division, when they received the information, deployed a team of officers to the community and ended the bandits and stopped them from causing mayhem in the community.
After the police responded, two bandits were recorded as casualties. The police are currently investigating the incident and aim to arrest the remaining bandits involved.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Aliyu Musa, commended the police officers for their steady efforts in taking the bandits out of the state. H assured residents of the willingness of the police in the state to ensure better welfare for them.
