LG Electronics, a pioneer in environmental friendly consumer electronics and sustainable solutions, gave a solar-powered borehole to the Agba-Akin community in Ibadan, Oyo State’s Ibadan North East Local Government Area, on Thursday to protect the locals from waterborne illnesses.
The program aims to improve the community’s quality of life, since clean and safe drinking water has long been a source of difficulty, and to meet the pressing need for a dependable source of clean water, according to the firm.
During the unveiling, the company’s Head of Corporate Marketing for Nigeria, Hari Elluru, stated that the company was committed to having a good influence on the communities it serves.
Elluru went on to say that having access to clean water is a fundamental human right and that they are honoured to be providing the solar-powered borehole to the Ibadan community.
“This project reflects our commitment to sustainable solutions that improve lives and foster development. Three years ago, we opened a free laundry centre in Ibadan to cater for the washing needs of the people. The free laundry centre is equipped with state-of-the-art, hygienic facilities, and is operated free of charge to end-users.
“This initiative demonstrates LG’s commitment to sustainability and inclusive growth in Nigeria, aligning with their philosophy of understanding customers and offering optimal solutions to improve their lives
“A commitment to community welfare. The donation of the solar-powered borehole is part of LG’s broader commitment to CSR, focusing on sustainable development and community empowerment.
Elluru clarified that this project encourages the use of renewable energy sources while simultaneously producing clean water through the use of solar energy.
Olaibi Ojuolape, the community’s Landlord Association Chairman, had earlier thqnked the company for the gesture and pledged the project sustainability and great upkeep.
