Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), has told critics to stop asking the church questions about its decision to retire some of the pastors associated with it.
In recent weeks, online users have criticised the founder of the Winneer Chapel after a report emerged about the church’s plans to retire two vice presidents, Bishops Thomas Aremu and David Abioye, after serving three and four decades in the ministry.
The report noted that their retirement was in accordance to operational guidelines of the church, which has been called The Mandate, which serves as the church’s constitution.
While delivering his sermon at the validator service organised by the church with respect to Bishop Aremu at Winners Chapel, Orita Bashorun, on Tuesday, the General Overseer noted that it was important for all individuals to focus on their own affairs.
The Bishop, in his comments, noted that those individuals questioning and praying for the downfall of the church were wasting their time.
The Bishop urged the retiring Bishop to keep God at the centre of his life, noting that taking breaks in spirituality was risky.
The Bishop who preached from the book of Genesis in the Bible noted that there was no individual who had an in the life of a teacher or a pastor. He charged Bishop Aremu to always stay on the path of growth as there was no best immediately or tomorrow; he noted that the best decision was always to pursue God and work diligently.
He urged him to remain connected to where the grace of God flows, stating that there was a need to pay deep ears to the criticisms that have been baseless in the past weeks.
While speaking earlier during the service at his address, Bishop Aremu disclosed that he has never had the intention of leaving the Winners Chapel to start up a new church after retiring from the Living Faith.
He noted that has not established a church and he can not establish a church as the capacity to do so has not been given to by God, he noted that he will continue to remain a member of the winners church.
It was learned that Aremu had served as former accountant who transitioned into full-time ministry following a successful career in the field working with so many organisations.
He is the last surviving bishop among the seven consecrated at the Garden of Faith in Kaduna in November 1999.
The second farewell service, which is for Bishop Abioye, is set to be held on Friday, 18th October 2024, at Durumi, Abuja.
