Police arrest 37-year-old for alleged abduction and sodomy in Bauchi

The Police in Bauchi State have announced the arrest of a 37-year-old man named Abubakar Talba, who hails from Hausari Dandal, Borno State, for an alleged abduction and sodomy.

The arrest was announced in a press statement issued by the police command on Monday through the Public Relations officer, Ahmed Wakil.

The PPRO noted that the police had received complaints about the maltreatment of children who were attending a Quranic school. In response, the police confirmed that the detectives, who were attached to the Gamawa Divisional Police Headquarters in the company of the Divisional Police Officer, arrested the suspect.

It was confirmed that the suspect, during interrogation by the police, explained that one of the victims was met during his day at Quranic school in Fagge. The police revealed that the victim was from Gamniya village in Niger Republic. The 12-year-old is named Masaud Barau, from Gamniya village in the Niger Republic; he was enrolled in a quranic school in Rijiyar Lemo, Kano State; the suspect has brought the teenager to Daura with the pretence of supporting the victim starting a business of his own.

Explaining further, the PPRO noted that the suspect, when he arrived in Daura, got in contact with the second victim, Ibrahim Jabiru, 13 years old, from Mai Mujiya village in Katsina State. The victim was reportedly enrolled in a Quranic school in ‘Tsangayar Malam Usman’ in Daura with the pretence of supporting his business to start selling torchlights and batteries.

The suspect allegedly took the two suspects to who are two boys, Danbatta, who was said to be abusing them inside a mosque. He had moved to Udubo village in Bauchi State, where he continued to abuse the victims.

The PPRO disclosed that after investigations, the suspect will be taken to court and charged with various offences. He further called on the public to provide relevant information to help locate the victims’ parents and guardians.
