The police in Akwa Ibom have announced the neutralization of kidnap kingpin Ubong Effiong Archibong, alias Condiment, during a gun battle that took place in his hideout in the Uyanga Community in Cross River state.
The killing was announced by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, ASP Timfon John, in a statement in Uyo, the state capital.
The PPRO noted that the victim, who is the gang leader of Bling Bling Marine Strike Force who has been responsible for the criminal activities in the Uruan/Oron Waterways, was responsible for the abduction of High Court Judge Joy Unwana and the killing of her Police orderly Inspector ThankGod Edet among others incidences.
She disclosed that the killing took place on Friday after the victim had caused a series of security breaches in the state.
The PPRO disclosed that some of the criminal incidents of the suspect include the kidnap of Pharmacist Joemel and Mr Brown m, CEO of Mingles Hotel. The statement also disclosed that the victim was responsible for the gruesome murder of the CEO of Emem and Sons Ltd and the kidnapping of his sales rep. Until his death, he served as the gang leader of Bling Bling Marine Strike Force.
The police confirmed that one G3 G3 riffle with four live ammunition was recovered from the suspect. The police disclosed that the command had begun an investigation into the incident with a view to apprehend other members of his gang who are currently on the run.
