In a 44-minute interview that was posted on the State House of Nigeria’s official YouTube channel, the minister of aviation spoke with Otega Ogra, who is the  Senior Special Assistant to the president, where he mentioned that during President Tinubu’s working visit to the UAE in September 2023, there had been an agreement between President Bola Tinubu and President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates.

He claimed that  though the UAE had originally put out more requirements that needed to be officially met before the ban could be formally lifted, which the  Nigerian government has now finished all requirements, opening the door for an impending declaration from the UAE government.

The minister stated “After that high-level meeting, Mr. President, credited to him, made things very easy for us all. We did our follow-ups as his ministers. We have done everything. We have resolved everything. Just wait for the announcement from the UAE government, and that announcement is imminent,”

He went on to say that he knows the actual  day the travel ban would be removed, but he rather would wait for  the UAE government to issue the formal statement lifting the ban.

the lifting of the restriction will facilitate travel again for Nigerian nationals to the United Arab Emirates, strengthening bilateral ties and collaboration between the two nations.
