The police in Nasarawa State have announced the arrest of one female named Hauwa Sani, who had stored 124 rounds of anti-craft ammunition in a gallon of palm oil and carrying a two-year-old boy in the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, announced the arrest in a post on the state police’s X page on Saturday.
According to the police, the arrest was made on Friday in the state; the suspect was arrested also with the cash sum of N78,500 and a mobile phone while trying to smuggle the ammunition to Katsina state, where the suspect is reportedly from.
The PPRO noted that the arrest was made after credible information was passed to the officers attached to the Keffi Division of the police in the state. The police intercepted the vehicle she had boarded en route to Katsina State with the teenage son.
The police PPRO noted a preliminary investigation by the police showed that the suspect had received an order to supply the ammunition to Rafin Sanyi village of Doma Local government area of Nasarawa state but pretended to be her way to deliver palm oil, which the ammunitions were concealed inside.
The Commissioner of Police in the state appreciated the operatives for their resilient effort in curbing crime in the state and ordered the transfer of the suspect and the exhibits to the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters in Abuja for where the police will carry out further investigation.
