Famous American movie character Arnold Schwarzenegger on Wednesday, declared his support for Democratic presidential candidate, Kamala Harris.
The actor and bodybuilder who endorsed the Vice President via a lengthy social media post stated that electing Harris into the White House was the only way to lessen resentment and division among Americans.
He also stated that Donald Trump’s attempts to void the 2020 election were ineligible while expressing distaste for the state of American politics and his desire to “tune out.”
Schwarzenegger echoed the opinions of many voters by writing that he didn’t like either party at the moment. He claimed he thought Democratic policies would lead to more crime and attacked Republican economic plans as being in opposition to free markets.
“Rejecting the results of an election is as un-American as it gets,” he wrote in his statement, referring to Mr. Trump’s remarks and deeds.
“Calling America a trash can for the globe is so unpatriotic that it infuriates me as someone who converses with individuals from all over the world and yet believes that America is the sparkling city on a hill. And before I am a Republican, I will always be an American,” he noted.
In defiance of Trump, Schwarzenegger declared that he would support Kamala Harris and her campaign mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz even as he went on to list a number of grievances against the former president.
He claimed that if the votes weren’t for him, Trump wouldn’t respect them and that he was incapable of working to pass any legislation other than a tax cut for the rich.
Additionally, he pointed out that Trump has painted Americans who disagreed with him as worse foes than North Korea, China, or Russia. Although he disagreed with many of the views put forth by presidential nominee Harris and Walz, Schwarzenegger went on to say that he was certain that electing them was the only way “to move forward as a country.”
Recently, prominent Republicans like Schwarzenegger have shown preparedness to publicly argue that this year’s election is about ideals more basic than legislation and have been seeking endorsements for Harris.
Former Representative, Liz Cheney of Wyoming, an anti-Trump Republican had recently made a similar point when she campaigned in a number of battleground states for Harris earlier this month.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was the Republican governor of California from 2003 to 2011.
