The Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has assured the United States that the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza will be speedily improved. This is in response to the 30-day ultimatum issued to Israel to either comply or risk losing access to the military assistance they have been enjoying from one of their closest allies, the United States.
Recall that Xclusiveload News reported earlier about the letter addressed to the Israeli government on Sunday through Secretary of State Blinken and Secretary of Defense Austin, asking Israel to implement sustainable steps to ameliorable the unpalatable humanitarian situation that is prevalent in Gaza within the next 30 days or face the sanction of the US government which was to stop arm shipment to them.
One of the top U.S. officials hinted that the letter was not a deliberate attempt to withhold weapons but was part of their diplomatic efforts to spur a change in direction from the Israeli government.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, the State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said, “There are implications under U.S. law that I’m not going to speak to here largely because we hope that Israel makes the changes that the Secretary outlined in the letter. We have seen Israel make changes before. Ultimately, we are focused on the bottom line here.”
One of the Israeli senior government officials revealed that the government in Jerusalem did not appreciate the harsh ultimatum issued by the United States government concerning the alleviation of the Gaza deteriorating condition; however, the Israeli government is only using the avenue to correct what they have hitherto been considering to do, as the situation in Gaza is now in contrast with the Israeli Cabinet’s official policy on sustaining humanitarian aid.
Reports suggest that for the first two weeks of October, no humanitarian aid has entered northern Gaza, where over 400,000 Palestinians are taking refuge at the moment. Since the crisis began last year, last month has been the time they recorded low humanitarian aid; the past two weeks worsened the situation due to the Israeli barricade.
The United Nations and the United States government have expressed huge concerns about the spread of disease that is inherent in the location where over 1.5 million Palestinians have taken refuge. Reports indicate that over 90% of the Palestinian civilian population has been displaced from their homes, while not fewer than 42,000 have been killed since last year that the war began.
The Israel Defense Forces disclosed that 50 trucks conveying humanitarian aid provided by Jordan were transported to the northern Gaza Strip on Wednesday. The Items conveyed via Jordan include food, water, medical supplies, and shelter equipment. The resumption of the humanitarian aid channel from Jordan to northern Gaza is one of the major demands made by the United States government; this indicates total compliance from the Israeli government.
