The president, Nigeria Football Federation, Mr Ibrahim Gusau has stated that the federation would take all necessary actions top ensure that the Super Eagles qualify for the upcoming 2026 world cup competition which has been scheduled to hold in U.S, Canada and Mexico

Mr Ibrahim revealed this on Thursday  in Abuja, immediately after having a confidential meeting with the minister of sports  developments, Senator John Owan Enoh, this meeting was held in order to address the federation’s sporting challenges especially i the football sector.

The news agency of Nigeria reports  that the minister had summoned the leader of NFF and had requested for detail of both the technical and physical report on why the super eagles had started poorly at the world cup qualifiers , it has been reported that Nigeria had just managed three points out of  12 and are currently sitting at the bottom with a mere fifth position in group where South Africa, Rwanda, Benin, Lesotho and Zimbabwe are.

After the meeting with the minister, the NFF president  showed optimism that every possible step would be taken to get the super eagles back on track in the ongoing qualification campaign, assuring that the NFF would continously work with the ministry and other stakeholders to carve out a winning strategy for the super eagles,

He said “It is a very sad moment for Nigerian football, we cannot run away from that, but we are working tirelessly in conjunction with the minister to see that we come out holistic measures  that will change the face of the entire  system, so that we can move forward.

“Don’t forget that it is still possible, and i want to assure you that we are going to fight it to the latter and Nigeria will qualify for the world cup.

“This is not something i will just say it now but very soon, you are going to see major steps that NFF would come out with and by the grace of God, those measures that we are going to take will lead us to qualify for the next world cup”

Giving so much assurance, the NFF boss stated that the federation would be putting in place checks and solutions that would get the super eagles team soaring again, “We are looking holistically at the general affairs of the team, and as i said, very soon Nigerians will see the steps we are going to take.

“What ever it takes for us to do, we would do and think outside the box to make sure that every where we can see or find any player that is fit to play for Nigeria, we will try as much as possible to get in touch with them, so that at least have a pool of players that will play for this country to help us qualify for the next world cup”

Gusau stated that, the NFF would always give the super eagles lead coach George Finidi, all the support he needs to excel in the qualifiers and at the world cup.

The meeting with the minister was attended by top NFF officials, including Felix Anyansi, Agwu; first vice president, General secretary; Mohammed Sanusi and the super eagles coach George Finidi.
