The Nigerian Football Federation has confirmed that the Supersand Eagles, the Nigerian Beach Soccer Team, will host Mauritania in the second leg of their 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Murtala Muhammed Square, Kaduna, on Saturday
In an impressive display by Supersand Eagles, the West African giant defeated Mauritania 5-4 in Nouakchott on Saturday, a performance that has given them an advantage going into the second leg in Nigeria.
The host had dominated the game in the opening minute but the Nigerian side got the first and second goal of the match, but an effort by the host saw them reducing the deficit and bringing the game to 2-1 in favour of the Nigerians.
The victory by the team was the first competitive game the Beach Soccer team have participated in in the last five years, Coach Abdullahi was impressed with the team’s performance and resilience.
Though getting an early goal in the third period, the Supersand Eagles scored twice with efforts from Taiwo Adams and Tale giving them the desired momentum going into the second leg in Kaduna on Saturday.
Isa who was the former assistant coach of the team has been announced as the new head coach, with Christopher Kadiri as assistant coach and Bashar Samaila as the goalkeepers’ trainer by NFF.
