Caleb Wiley has become a recent addition by the Premier League and London side Chelsea, Caleb has joined Chelsea from Atlanta United for a fee in the region of €10 million.
Though not yet official, the United States men’s national team left-back signed from Atlanta United has been seen as a long-term plan by the club’s recruitment department.
The 19-year-old year has penned down a seven-year deal with the club with the new signing set to spend the first season of European football at BlueCo affiliate Strasbourg for the 2024/2025 season.
Caleb has become the recent addition by Chelsea in the left-back position, after signing Portuguese star Renato Veiga, the recent signings have created doubts about the future of Ben Chiwell who is the current vice caption of the team.
Caleb Wiley who is set for his first European football experience will be hoping to compete in the Chelsea team after spending next season with the Chelsea affiliate Strasbourg, the Italian club had in the past made efforts to sign Caleb in the January Transfer window.
Wiley has been seen as a traditional left-back, he has been impressive for the United States Men’s team despite his tender age of 19.
He has been a regular starter for Atlanta United in the MLS netting four goals and providing four assists for the regular season and playoffs which has been a major reason for the switch.
In the current transfer window, Chelsea has strengthened several positions after signing Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City, Marc Guiu from Barcelona, Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham on a free transfer, midfielder Omari Kellyman from Aston Vila and now Caleb from Atlanta United.
In the list of notable outgoing, Ian Matsen has sealed a transfer to Aston Villa in what has been a swap deal for Omari Kellyman, also Hakim Ziyech has successfully joined Galatasaray where he spent the 2023/2024 season.
Other notable transfers are Thiago Silva, who has joined Brazilian side Fluminense on a free transfer, and young star Omari Hutchinson has also made a switch to the newly promoted side Ipswich Town after an impressive last season with the now Premier League side.
Chelsea has so far been one of the top spenders in the current transfer window which has become a repetition since the reign of current owners.
