The American men’s basketball team defeated France 98-87 on Saturday to win gold for the seventh time simce their history in the Olympics.
In the final two minutes of the game, Steph Curry once again saved the day for Team USA, making three straight 3-pointers to end with 24 points on 8-for-13 shooting from beyond the arc.
Kevin Durant and Devin Booker each contributed 15 points for the U.S., followed by 14 points, 10 assists and six rebounds from LeBron James. With four blocks and ten rebounds, Anthony Davis led both teams.
The United States shot 50% (18-for-36) from three as a team, while France shot 30% (9-for-30) from beyond the arc. Three-pointers were a major factor in Team USA’s victory.
With three golds and a bronze, James also receives his fourth Olympic medal, and Durant wins his fourth gold, making him the most successful men’s basketball player in Olympic history.
Victor Wembanyama led the host nation in scoring with a game-high 26 points and seven rebounds. After Guerschon Yabusele scored twenty, Nando De Colo contributed twelve. Eight rebounds were grabbed by Nicolas Batum.
