The Nigerian Air Force has made history by producing the first female golfer in Sgt. Cynthia Maurice. She has become the first female professional golfer in the military category.
According to reports by the News Agency of Nigeria, the now professional golfer had gone through a week-long Professional Examinations which was held from July 14 to July 20, it took place at HSD Golf Club Bayelsa Nigeria.
According to the report the examination was administered by the Professional Golfers Association of Nigeria (PGAN) and her playing ability. written and oral were all tested before certification.
In a commendation, Pro Emmanuel Odoh, the Assistant Resident Head Professional, TYB International Golf Resort and Country Club explained that the feats achieved by the golfer were due to her resilience determination and willingness to achieve greatness.
“With unwavering dedication, she channelled her mind and body towards her goal, sacrificing tirelessly to hone her skills.
He noted that the achievements by Sgt Cynthia will serve as an encouragement to all other female sports lovers in the military to take sports seriously and achieve greatness as they defend the country. He further explained that the achievements have shown how the Nigerian military currently has equity, diversity, and fairness among all offices and men.
