Nigerian comedian Bovi has taken to his social media handle to voice his displeasure and inflict in the Super Eagles players what they need to know every time they put on Nigerian Jersey.
Nigeria was recently eliminated and denied their place at the finals of the 2025 AFCON after losing to Morroco on a penalty shootout that ended 4-2 in favor of the host nation. While their journey looked overly perfect, their crucial mistakes during the penalty shootout ruined their supposed glory. The likes of Chukwueze, whose penalty was tagged nonchalant and unserious, inflicted furiousity among Nigerians. So far, Chukwueze has received the most criticism from Nigerians as they are furious over his decision.
While Nigerians voiced their displeasure, Comedian Bovi was not an exception. According to him, to every Nigerian player who is representing the country, they should be 100% aware that playing for Nigeria means uniting the nation bound with various tribes and differences, so they should handle it as an assassin mission. Shading Chukwueze, who was spotted chewing gum while taking his penalty, he urged that if a player is not ready to give it all for the nation even if NFF treats them bad, they should not accept the call. He made references with the likes of Algeria who were absent on social media while preparing to play Nigeria.
He finalized that Chukwueze allowed social media hype get into his head, which destroyed him.
His words:
“To Super Eagles, always keep this at the back of your mind whenever you step out to play for Nigeria, regardless of how the NFF tre@ts you. The moment you choose to wear that jersey, you must understand that you have the power, potential, and responsibility to unite the country.
Football is the only thing that brings Muslims and Christians, North, West, East and South together. In those moments, the entire nation forgets tribe, religion, and background. You have to tre@t it like a mission, like an ass@ss!n. You never see an ass@ss!n get a clear opportunity and let it slip away while chewing gum. We let our advantage slip.
Do not come to the Super Eagles if you are not ready to give everything for the nation. If the NFF delays your payment, let it go. Social media has distracted you, and the praise has gotten to your heads. When Algeria were preparing to play us four days before, none of their players were active on social media…”
Nigerians couldn’t hold their nerves and reacted massively according to their views.
