On 5th February 2023, The Nigerian Afrobeat Maestro, Tems breached a massive dimension to become the first Afrobeat Gem to win a Grammy Award.
This transpired after she, Drake and Future defeated their nominees and emerged victorious in the category of ‘Best Melodic Performance’

She clinched this with the song ‘Wait for U’ owned by the American hip-hop icon, Future who featured her and Drake to yield a sensational melodic song.
Tems however didn’t feature in the visual of the song but was credited vastly for the effort she deployed to the melodic phase of the song with her incredible vocal.
She has set a new record to rightfully clinch a Grammy Award and stands firmly as the first woman to do it in the Nigerian music firm.
