Unknown gunmen recently invaded the police investigation department and correctional facility in Owerri, the Imo State capital, freed inmates and set the facilities ablaze.
Multiple reports claimed that this arose at midnight after some unknown gunmen released multiple gunshots which left the Nigerian police in fear and they invaded the facilities freeing inmate and setting the building ablaze.
From research, it was believed that the attack occurred in the early hours of Easter Monday, April 5, 2021, which has so far left the citizens in fear because some notorious criminals escaped.
Eyewitnesses also labelled that the gunmen actually invaded the facility to release the prisoners. They were spotted escaping in hundreds.
