Panic has elicited to its peak after an intense massacre happened at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo, Ondo State on 6th June 2022.
As disclosed by the Parish Priest, Andrew Abayomi. Just quite after the Sunday service was dismissed, unidentified terrorists raided the church and started shooting at the congregants.

It emerged to be a pull of blood as the media recorded over 50 victims confirmed dead and over 20 victims injured shortly after the bandits evacuated the resident.
This attracted massive attention and chaos spanked amongst top names in Nigeria. The likes of Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy pledged their condolences to the families of the deceased.
Even at that, the Nigerian government has promised to hold captive the murderers and punish them.
Identified couples who wedded a day before the massacre were confirmed dead. Other affected families have shown their concern and craving for justice.
The Reverend Fr. who was interviewed by multiple sources shortly after the massacre detailed the incident which has further impacted panic among netizens.
The cleric who spoke in Yoruba dialect said:
“We were about to round off service. I had even asked people to start leaving, that was how we started hearing gunshots from different angles.”
“We hid inside the church but some people had left when the attack happened. We locked ourselves in the church for 20 minutes. When we heard that they had left, we opened the church and rushed victims to the hospital.”
“It is a black Sunday in Owo. Our hearts are heavy. Our peace and tranquility have been attacked by the enemies of the people. This is a personal loss, an attack on our dear state. I have spoken to the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ondo, Most Reverend Jude Arogundade, who is presently on his way to Owo. Similarly, I have had to cut short my party’s national assignment in Abuja and visit Owo immediately.”
