World leaders have begun to send their congratulations to the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, who won the election early on Wednesday and was officially declared the winner.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted in his congratulatory message that Trump’s victory was the greatest comeback in the country’s history. Also, ultranationalist National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir posted on his social media page welcoming Trump’s victory with a simple post, “Yessss.” followed by the American and Israeli flags and a strong-arm emoji.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Trump’s election in a congratulatory message to the present elect. The prime minister, in a short message, stated, “Heartiest congratulations, my friend.” The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed happiness over the election outcome and disclosed his plans to engage in an elaborate celebration.
Italy’s hard-right prime minister, Giorgia Meloni, in a message posted on X, disclosed that the country and the United States have been in a deep collaboration in the past years with an alliance that can not be shaken by any circumstance with shares values that have dated to decades, the statement further noted that the outcome of the election will continue to help strengthen the bond the two countries have had in the past decades.
French President Emmanuel Macron, in his message posted on X, congratulated the elected president and noted that he was ready to work with him to see the growth of the ties between the two nations; he noted that the collaboration will be anchored on strong collaboration with respect and ambition for more peace and prosperity.
In a parallel message written in French, Macron said he had spoken with his German counterpart, Chancellor Olaf Scholz. This conversation reflected the stark reality now faced by Europe.
The French president disclosed that his discussion with the German Chancellor included the new angle given to Europe through Trump’s election; he noted that the angle has called for more significant cooperation with the United States of America, which includes defending the interests of the nations and the values that they teach.
Also, NATO head Mark Rutte said Trump would again be essential to keeping our alliance strong and that he looked forward to working with him again to advance peace through strength. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, a former human rights lawyer from the centre-left Labour Party, said he looks forward to working with you in the years ahead.
He explained in his message that as the closest of allies, the statement also noted that they stand shoulder to shoulder in defence of their shared values of freedom, democracy and enterprise.
In a message sent by the president of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he welcomed the election of Trump, stating that he has a style of decisive leadership and has peace through his strength in dealing with global affairs. It has been observed that some Ukrainians were baffled by what they saw as the equivocal support provided by President Joe Biden despite that totalling some $175 billion since 2022 and say they remain optimistic Trump could offer a new start.
